Youth and Family Minister
Damien Barber was born in Greensboro, NC, but moved around a lot while growing up (including 5 years in England). He spent his teen years in Brevard County, Florida (Cocoa, Melbourne, Mims, and Rockledge). Damien first started going to church at the Rockledge Church of Christ when he was 17. He was baptized into Christ two weeks before his 18th birthday on June 13th, 2001. Shortly after becoming a Christian, he decided that the talents God had blessed him with would be best used in full time ministry.
So, after graduating with a general AA degree from Brevard Community College in May 2002, Damien went to Faulkner University to pursue a degree in Bible. He graduated in 2006 with a BA in Pulpit Ministry and then again in 2008 with a MA in Youth and Family Ministry.
Damien has served in several part time ministry roles in his time at Faulkner. In the summer of 2003, he served as the Youth Minister Intern at the Central Church of Christ in Savannah, GA. In the summer of 2004, he served as the Associate Minister Intern at the Rockledge Church of Christ. In the summer of 2005, he did a summer of camp counseling for Faulkner University. He spent a month as the Interim Minister at the Highway 84 Church of Christ in Coffeeville, AL in December 2005 as they prepared to merge with the other church in the area. He also served as the Associate Minister Intern at the Northpointe Church of Christ in Montgomery, Alabama for about 9 months. Damien’s first full time ministry was as the Pulpit Minister at the Ozark Church of Christ in Ozark, Alabama from April 1st, 2012 until September 2013.
Damien returned to Central Florida to serve as the Youth and Family Minister at the Mount Dora Church in September 2013.
Damien has been married to Valerie Barber since July 28th, 2007. Valerie has a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from Faulkner University. They have three daughters: Katarina Rachelle, Melodie Karissa, and Lily Anastasia.
